A U.K. Department of Health program partnering with the National Health Service (NHS) has added educational modules on interpreting plain x-rays of the adult chest to its website.
The new modules join the adult skeleton image interpretation units on the e-Learning for Health Image Interpretation website that NHS started in June. The site is free for radiographers and relevant NHS staff.
The 10 units are designed to provide support to radiographers who need to provide initial reports on chest images, as well as assist medical and nursing staff in understanding the x-ray images of patients who need immediate care or intervention.
Radiologists, advanced practitioners, and university lecturers wrote and reviewed the e-learning sessions. Other units include anatomy, clinical presentations, and pathology.
This summer, e-Learning for Health Image Interpretation will launch a pediatric skeleton module with 40 learning units. A program spokesperson said they are also planning a module on the abdomen and one on cross-sectional imaging of the head.
