U.K. releases Ebola guidelines for the ED

Public Health England's College of Emergency Medicine has issued its list of guidelines to emergency departments (ED) on how to deal with the Ebola virus.

There have been no imported cases of Ebola hemorrhagic disease in the U.K., but healthcare officials want to be prepared ahead of time.

The document details the five species of Ebola virus, four of which -- Zaïre, Sudan, Tai Forest, and Bundibugyo -- cause disease in humans. Reston ebola virus has caused disease in nonhuman primates and pigs, but not in humans.

The guidelines can be downloaded at Ebola: Guidance for emergency departments.
