Her Majesty's Prison Leeds is the first jail in the U.K. to receive a body x-ray scanner as part of a government initiative aimed at finding drugs and other illegal items at the 10 most challenging prisons, according to a BBC News report.
Part of the 10 million pound 10 Prisons Project, the scanners will be used to enable staff to search offenders on an intelligence-led basis for drugs and other contrabands concealed inside their bodies, according to the U.K. Ministry of Justice.
