Nobel Prize for PET? Fireside chat with Hans Ringertz

VIENNA – Are we getting any nearer to seeing a Nobel Prize awarded for clinical PET imaging? What does an accomplished global radiologist who's seen it all before think of ECR 2024? And should the next generation of radiologists become subspecialists or generalists?

In search of answers, we tracked down ECR 1997 President Prof. Hans Ringertz, who was involved in the decision-making process that led to Vienna becoming the permanent home of the congress in 1991. A pediatric radiologist, he is now professor emeritus at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and affiliated professor at the Center for Medical Image Science and Visualization (CMIV) in Sweden's Linköping University Hospital. In a highly personal interview, he also comments on his current favorite hobby: woodworking.
