Barco lands 1,100+ monitor order for Ireland's PACS

Image display company Barco announced that it will partner with healthcare information systems firm McKesson to supply more than 1,100 medical displays for the Republic of Ireland's national PACS program.

McKesson was awarded a contract by Ireland's Health Service Executive (HSE) to install RIS and PACS in all acute hospitals within the HSE. Barco will be the exclusive supplier of all diagnostic, mammography, and clinical review displays in combination with MediCal QAWeb, Barco's online quality assurance service.

The company will install more than 500 diagnostic and mammography display systems, a mix of its Coronis Fusion 6MP DL, Cronis 5MP, and Nio 3MP Color HB diagnostic displays. The 600 display monitors will be Barco's 20-inch clinical review display. The clinical review workstations will be used in clinical settings, including cardiology, neurology, nuclear medicine, and orthopedics.

The large-scale installation will be made in 35 hospitals that serve more than 4.2 million people throughout the Republic of Ireland, the company said. McKesson's PACS software will provide electronic imaging sharing among the hospitals.

Barco's MediCal QA Web online software will centrally manage calibration and quality assurance of all displays.
