Philips Healthcare parent Royal Philips Electronics and its Nigerian partner PPC Limited have installed a Brilliance CT 16-slice scanner at the Gombe Federal Medical Centre, the first installation of a large modality order for a Nigerian Ministry of Health public tender.
Philips will also supply five additional CT scanners, eight MammoDiagnost with PCR Eleva HiRES digital mammography systems, and 17 ultrasound systems to tertiary care hospitals throughout the country in 2011.
The Nigerian Ministry of Health issued a letter of award to Philips earlier this year announcing the federal government's intention to purchase 10 additional Brilliance CT 16-slice systems for its teaching hospitals, according to Roelof Assies, district and general manager of Philips Healthcare Africa.
