Prof. Marie-France BellinProf. Marie-France BellinCourtesy of SFRThe French national radiology congress, JFR, has commenced with an added focus on professional affairs in radiology, specifically the controversial 2026 PLF social security finance bill and strategic plan for radiology.

In her welcome address to congress attendees, French Society of Radiology (SFR) President Prof. Marie-France Bellin highlighted the 3 October program addition, emphasizing the importance of financing quality radiological care and affirming "loud and clear" that radiology is a healthcare activity.

The "forum for debate and advocacy for our profession" will take place at 3:45 p.m. in the blue lecture hall, she noted. Topics under discussion were due to include funding and quality of radiological care (PLFSS 2026); risks of the CNAM 2025/2027 protocol; relevance, training, and attractiveness of radiology; equity between specialties; and the future of imaging (CT scans, MRIs, and excellence for patients).

JFR 2025 begins as radiologists in France announced action to strike over the spending proposals of the French National Health Insurance Fund (Caisse Nationale de l'Assurance Maladie, CNAM), the country’s main public health insurer. It’s being led by the National Federation of Medical Radiologists (FNMR).

The four-day congress in Paris runs until 6 October.
